Drive-By Truckers and The Whigs out in Boston

This weekend, thanks to ATO, the South came to Boston for Easter weekend via the Drive-By Truckers and The Whigs.

First stop was the House of Blues, where DBT turned in a sweaty, 90 minute-plus set. The venue was near-capacity, the weather was as good as it’s been in Beantown all year, and it was Friday night-the crowd was ready to party, and party they did.

The next evening, The Whigs delivered an equally energetic set at Harper’s Ferry. They previewed their performance by performing at Newbury Comics’ Newbury Street location with tourmates Band of Skulls. About 50 customers gave up a chunk of a beautiful Saturday afternoon to check The Whigs out. After a fun set (during which The Whigs’ drummer humorously modeled various hats from Newbury’s hat section), the trio signed posters and CDs for their fans.

Thanks to the ATO folks for setting the instore up and hooking me and the Newbury folks up with tickets, thanks to the bands for delivering top-notch performances (especially The Whigs, who were nice enough to talk to me about their favorite albums-footage hopefully going up on RSD.com as soon as I figure out how to upload the video), and thanks to the Stache Lifestyle reps-Nancy, Hannah and Stephen-for assisting with the in-store set up.
