buzz ‘stache: RED Promotion Attend The FMQB AAA Convention 2011 In Boulder, CO
‘stache media’s radio partner, RED Promotion, was busy last weekend in Boulder, CO for The FMQB AAA Convention 2011 which took place at the St Julien Hotel, as well as the Fox Theater.
The AAA Convention was attended by various AAA Radio Programmers from across the country from KCMP/Minneapolis, WXRT Chicago, KCSN Los Angeles, KUT Austin, KGSR Austin, WFPK Louisville, WXPK White Plains, WRLT Nashville, & many many more. The 2011 lineup featured a fantastic showcase of RED artists fromTom Morello/The Nightwatchmen, Joseph Arthur, Burlap to Cashmere, Lissie, Bobby Long, John Butler Trio, Trixie Whitley & Many others outside the RED family.
In just its 3rd year as the FMQB AAA Convention (it had been once called the R&R AAA Summit – FMQB took it over 3 years ago), the conference has really come into its own, with attenedance reaching an all time high & Oscar winner sightings. Jeff Bridges was amongst the performers & included some songs from the Academy Award winning soundtrack for Crazy Heart.
In addition to some of the incredible music we witnessed from RED Artists, there were some enlightening panels ranging from “AAA Anarchists- Taking Risks at The Format” , Social Media Workshops & “How to Keep AAA Progressive”.
Closing the conference was the 3rd Annual Awards Brunch, where GLASSNOTE RECORDS took home TWO awards for Mumford & Sons! There was also a captivating performance from RED artist The Nightwatchmen/Tom Morello – who rallied a very tired & weary crowd of radio programmers to their feet to sing along to “This Land is Your Land”.
Til we see the Rocky Mountains next August!
