Alabama Shakes are absolutely a must-see live act, they rocked our ‘staches clear off at a recent NYC show.  The band just completed its first-ever West Coast run, playing 11 sold-out shows, and will make its London debut later this month with three sold-out nights at Boston Arms. They will perform at SXSW this spring and don’t worry, additional North American dates will be announced soon!
Alabama Shakes were named ‘Best New Band of the Year’ by Paste Magazine and hailed as a “genuine, word-of-mouth, go-see-them-then-tell-10-friends-how-amazing-they-are thing” by NME.

“New fans are converted at every gig,” observed Rolling Stone in a recent Breaking Artist feature. “The fast-rising soul-indebted rock band is turning ears for its incendiary live sets,” said the Los Angeles Times while BuzzBands.la praised Alabama Shakes’ “ferocious and unpretentious fusion of Southern rock and blues.” The New York TimesJon Pareles described lead singer/guitarist Brittany Howard as a “thunderbolt dressed in blue jeans.” “[She is] diving into the wreck of music history and coming up with treasures we can use,” said The Hollywood Reporter.

Jack White’s Third Man Records will release a two-song 7” from the band’s fall 2011 session at Third Man in Nashville later this month. Alabama Shakes recently appeared on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” and NPR’s World Café. You can check them out performing ‘Hold On’ live for MTV Hive’s ‘First Take’ series here.
