buzz ‘stache: Official.fm Makes a Splash at First Ever New York City Music Week

Participates in New Music Seminar; powers A2IM’s inaugural Libera Awards; adds New Product Features

New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg introduced NYC Music Week by proclaiming “record companies don’t make records anymore.” Fittingly, Official.fm’s Head of Content, Amaechi Uzoigwe, moderated an all-star panel of industry leaders at this week’s New Music Seminar titled Music Labels: The Businesses formerly known as Record Companies.’ Featuring music mavericks Martin Mills (Beggars Group)Brett Gurewitz (Epitaph/ANTI- Records)Patrick Moxey (Ultra Records), and Benjy Grinberg (Rostrum Records) plus top major label digital gurus, the panel tackled the evolving and expanding role of music companies in the new ecosystem. Grinberg referenced his use of Official.fm on releases such as the Wiz Khalifa mixtape.  Full coverage of the panel can be found at Billboard.biz. As part of its partnership with the New Music Seminar, Official.fm is also powering a 100 song playlist featuring artists selected for the NMS Artist on-the-Verge program. The top 3 acts in the program are NinjasonikBlack Cobain, and Maren Morris.

On Thursday June 21st, Official.fm partners with A2IM for the inaugural Libera Awards, celebrating the accomplishments of independent labels, artists and music professionals. The platform’s technology powered the submission and nomination process.  Finalists include Bon Iver, Mac Miller, Arcade Fire, AWOLNATION, XL Recordings, Ghostly International, Spotify, Next Big Sound and more. Official.fm will present the Album of the Year Award.

Debuting at the Libera Awards will be the final two installments of Official.fm’s promotional video series, directed by Danny Lee and produced by Studio Number One –  “Know Your Fans” & “Save Time”
