audio ‘stache: MALINA MOYE Finds The Groove With “K-YOTIC”

The new single from guitar goddess Malina Moye features the legendary Bootsy Collins.

Malina Moye shreds on the guitar and flips funk grooves with equal amounts of skill. The first single from her upcoming album,Rock ‘n Roll Baby, is called “K-Yotic,” and it joins her with Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Famer Bootsy Collins. The song will be released on all digital platforms 7/30, with the Rock ‘n Roll Baby album to be released early 2014 on  WCE Records, Distributed by BDG/ RED Distribution, LLC (a division of SONY Music Entertainment).

“K-Yotic” has a Zeppelin vibe with urban undertones that has Moye poised to showcase a new generation of rock. About the song, Malina says “With ‘K-Yotic,’ I wanted to capture the raw energy of rock and the power of funk, but maintain a current, radio friendly vibe. I feel everyone has a situation in their life that is chaotic. When I wrote the song, I was going through mine.”

Seen her videos, including NAMM 2013 and one for a website where all she did was talk about herself, wow. Not much of a true musician, not seasoned at all more flash than substance. Heard her on the Ron Ponder Show and all I can say is if this woman is 20 yrs old AND a female Hendrix then I am Michael Jackson back for the grave! Please, enough with all the “modeling” pix, just play the damned guitar! Maybe she can play songs she doesn’t know and not re-hashed stuff from her old album. GM

I have been a huge Ron Ponder fan for years which is how I came to find Ms. Moye. I am also one to speak my mind which is why I love Ron and Dennis Miller. By the way, my daughter is 20, Ms. Moye is certainly not!

Jealous? Of what I don’t play guitar. If Ms. Moye does not want critical comments about her lack of guitar prowess, she should not blast herself all over the internet selling herself as being as talented as Lita Ford, Joan Jett, Bonnie Rait, my favs.

I won’t leave my last name because working with the IRS can be “challenging.” You, E, who got so angry at my comments must be her boyfriend, the one she only moderately enthused as having, because you defend her. Good for you both. No worries, none for me at least. Live your lives, play GOOD music, and do your taxes. George M

Malina Moye’s just okay. Saw her in Canton, Ohio at the Blues Fest, but she did not play much blues. Loved her band and back up singers, though. \m/

I think to be fare she states she likes to “entertain.” If you find her modeling pictures and her running across the stage entertaining even if she isn’t at all talented especially compared to other female guitarists, what difference does it make? Just sayin.

As a Malina Moye follower online, this is obviously the same person making the comments under different names repeating the same things over and over again. Get a life.

I’ve traveled to foreign countries with bands and some of them were seasoned, some weren’t. They like that Ame4ericans are free-spirited and entertaining and I respect that because Americans can be jaded and judgmental which is why a lot of American musicians work overseas, Sorry, never heard of Malina Moye, I am a die-hard Jennifer Batten fan and a new Orianthi fan, but more power to her style of entertainment.

SMH. What? We just saw all four of those horrible videos from Hondaribbia on You Tube, which are now conveniently removed. Here’s a recap Malina Moye was AWFUL! She pranced around the stage, sung severely off-key, barely played guitar and when she did it was slight and not close enough to the mic to hear. Her backup band of musicians were wonderful, very talented, she obviously relied on them for support throughout that horrible display. How did we find her? Saw her interview with Ladygunn Magazine, one of our favs.

We thought Malina was a 1980s tribute performer or she is a very dated very sad older woman who can’t get her mind out of the 1980s. She is definitely nothing close to playing like Hendrix. And where was the blues? She did covers of Vanity Six; Janet Jackson and Sly Stone at a blues festival?! Really? From what we know and see Malina is a busy woman, running all over Europe and talking endlessly in videos and playing guitar on top of Goodwood Castle, and being featured in small magazines, but what is she, a comedian or an amateur comedic guitarist?! Her performances are so not up to the standards of Jennifer Batten or Orianthi Panagaris, not at all, so why is she selling herself as a professional? Then she has most of her performances spliced into a sample reel to fool people into thinking she is worth the price of a ticket, ie: Rock & Roll Baby. We know for a fact those big audiences in France, Spain, Switzerland, etc were NOT there only for Malina, but her “gag’ reel will sell them as such whenever it comes to light. Carlita M. is right, Americans can be very jaded about artists whereas foreigners are more kind in their love of music, no matter how pathetic the “artist” is. Then call us jaded because whatever Malina Moye is in this Diamonds and Guitars Remix Tour, talented she has long to be. But, if she can make Jimi Hendrix bust out laughing from the grave like she made us laugh, then more power to her.
