Campfire OK announces new album, When You Have Arrived out on Sept. 17th and a new video for first single, “Wishing You The Best”

August 8, 2013 Leave a comment

Deeply rooted in Seattle, Campfire OK announces the release of their sophomore album, When You Have Arrived through Fugitive Records on September 17th and will feature “Wishing You The Best” as the first single. The essence of the 12 track alternative genre album establishes a dark psychedelia sound with unassailable harmonies and catchy melodies.

Campfire OK delivers a unique sound that the band so proudly claims as their own swiftly entering the Seattle music scene by performing at festivals such as Doe Bay, Bumbershoot, and The Capitol Hill Block Party.

Campfire OK consists of Mychal Cohen (vocals/piano/guitar), Andrew Eckes (banjo/guitar/trumpet), Brandon Milner (drummer), Aaron Huffman (bassist, formerly with Harvey Danger), and Zarni De Wet (vocals and piano). The songs from the album, When You Have Arrived present themselves in a sprightly, electro-pop manner, some tracks introducing romantic and vulnerable lullabies, while others dance between rhythmic intonations.

Press recognition:

“Campfire OK’s “Strange Like We Are” grows as it goes, with handclaps and three-part harmonies culminating in powerful choruses.” -NPR: Song of The Day

On “Wishing You the Best,” the first single from When You Have Arrived, Cohen delivers his earnest plea (“I’m sorry if I was overbearing / But I didn’t mean it”) backed by the thunder of hand-claps and the spine-tingling sound of Eckes’ banjo. – KEXP-FM

“Campfire OK is one of those beautiful, restless entities that don’t stay in one place for too long, but still manage to write concise, focused songs. The band pushes the boundaries of the revival band stigma, incorporating subtle modern elements (synth swells and delay pedals) effortlessly atop the weathered antique frames of their songs” -Seattle Weekly

big b fools goldJuly 9th marks the release date for Fool’s Gold, the latest album by Las Vegas-based singer/rapper Big B. Released on Suburban Noize Records, the album features appearances from Dirty Heads, Slightly Stoopid, and many others. It is currently streaming on and on

For Fool’s Gold, Big B‘s sixth studio album, he is upping the ante by delivering his most heartfelt album yet.

“I put a lot of heart and soul into this record and the last few years have been pretty hard on me for various reasons,” he says. “This record was my way of getting it all out and turning it all into a positive thing. I just wanted to make good songs that people can have a good time listening to. “

Fool’s Gold features musical collaborations with members of legendary punk outfits NOFX and Pennywise, as well as a songwriting collaboration with Grammy winner Pink on the single “Here Comes the Lightning.” The end result is a collection of songs that are just as contagious as Big B‘s thuggish charm. With the entire music industry focused on finding the next huge star on reality television, Big B has taken a back-to-basics approach on “Fool’s Gold” and filled it with fun spirited songs that can fit into any music lover’s playlist. The album is rich is musical diversity and is cleverly inventive, as Big B seamlessly bridges the gap between rock, hip-hop, and alternative.
