random ‘stache: staff year-end list :: Dewayne Brown

December 23, 2011 Leave a comment

2011 was an awesome year for music! Stay tuned throughout the week as we continue our ‘stache Staff Picks for the year and introduce you to our unique team! We asked our staff which ‘stache albums have them in a tizzy this year,  we found out so much more that we just had to go public.

Meet Dewayne, the ‘stache Mayor of Nashville.

What are your some of your favorite ‘stachetastic albums?

1. Del McCoury // Tribute to Bill Monroe
2. Avett Brothers // Emotionalism
3. Jason Aldean // My Kinda Party
4. Jason Boland // Rancho Alt
5. Aaron Lewis // Town Line
6. Thompson Square // Thompson Square
7. Craig Morgan// This Ol’ Boy
8. Paul Thorn //  Mission Temple
9. Mumford & Sons // Sign No More
10. Levy Lowrey // I Confess I Was a Fool

Where are you from?  ::Born in a small farm town just south of Nashville Tennessee called Franklin – raised up on a dairy farm just outside Franklin city limits where those cows don’t wait to be milked, 4:30am and 4:30pm everyday of the week – that’s right everyday , no vacations , no family island get away , no extended trip to Nashville even.  Oh , did I forget to mention the chickens that lay eggs everyday too ?

Current hood?  ::Franklin, TN [That’s just South of Nashville y’all]

Your favorite record store and radio station?  ::Growing up in Franklin we didn’t have a “record store” but we did have a Woolworth Drug store that had a few records and there was only one radio station we could get and that was WSM AM650 – it’s the same station that to this day broadcast the Friday and Saturday Night Grand Old Opry live.

Your first concert? ::First concert was Elvis Presley in 1967. [way to make us all jealous Dewayne]

first record you bought?  ::My first record was The Beatles “Let it be” on a 45rpm single.

One thing you cannot do without? ::Country Music (the real deal- not this pansy shit that radio plays)

Deserted island record? ::The Outlaws (Willie, Waylon and the boys)

Your ideal day on the dirt road? ::My favorite pastime is plugging into my BB playlist , jumping on one of my Harleys and heading out into the back roads of Tennessee while listening to some tunes.  Tunes ? Yeehaw !! Make mine Country and turn it up loud . Taking a break by stopping off and having a great dinner or lunch somewhere along the back roads, it could be steak at HWY 109  , Barbque at Roosters , chicken at Pucketts, or just a Hamburger at Lucy’s …they all go down great with a few bugs in your teeth.
