audio ‘stache: Big B Strikes Gold With New Album

Big B’s latest album Fools Gold features collaborations with The Dirty Heads, Slightly Stoopid, P!NK, Butch Walker, and many more.

big b fools goldJuly 9th marks the release date for Fool’s Gold, the latest album by Las Vegas-based singer/rapper Big B. Released on Suburban Noize Records, the album features appearances from Dirty Heads, Slightly Stoopid, and many others. It is currently streaming on MSN.com and on last.fm.

For Fool’s Gold, Big B‘s sixth studio album, he is upping the ante by delivering his most heartfelt album yet.

“I put a lot of heart and soul into this record and the last few years have been pretty hard on me for various reasons,” he says. “This record was my way of getting it all out and turning it all into a positive thing. I just wanted to make good songs that people can have a good time listening to. “

Fool’s Gold features musical collaborations with members of legendary punk outfits NOFX and Pennywise, as well as a songwriting collaboration with Grammy winner Pink on the single “Here Comes the Lightning.” The end result is a collection of songs that are just as contagious as Big B‘s thuggish charm. With the entire music industry focused on finding the next huge star on reality television, Big B has taken a back-to-basics approach on “Fool’s Gold” and filled it with fun spirited songs that can fit into any music lover’s playlist. The album is rich is musical diversity and is cleverly inventive, as Big B seamlessly bridges the gap between rock, hip-hop, and alternative.

Big B is currently on the road as part of the Cabin By the Sea tour with Dirty Heads and The Expendables. From there, he will embark on Redlight King’s “Ones to Watch” tour, which will run through August. Tour dates can be found below.

audio ‘stache: It’s Going to be One Lovely Day for CITIZEN COPE

Singer/songwriter Citizen Cope announces new album “One Lovely Day” scheduled for release July 17, 2012

Citizen Cope Press Photo

Citizen Cope (songwriter and producer Clarence Greenwood) is proud to announce the release of his fifth album, One Lovely Day (July 17, Rainwater Recordings / MRI / RED).  Recorded in Brooklyn and written / produced by Clarence, the sounds on One Lovely Day are Southern rural, big sky lonely, concrete urban, and painfully romantic. For over a decade, Citizen Cope has been building a profoundly dedicated following, tirelessly bringing his urban folk-with a band or simply his guitar- to far corners of the US and beyond. This summer and fall, Cope continues with 47-date US headlining tour, including a date at the Beacon Theater in New York City (11/3).

Check out this Fan-Shot Video of Citizen Cope Performing One Lovely Day‘s title track, watch below and feel free to share the lovely day!

“Rawness improbably balanced by a mixture of danger and delicacy is what gives Citizen Cope his edge,” writes Rolling Stone.  “As a singer, songwriter and producer, he stands alone-an artist immune to corruption.” A child of the seventies, Citizen Cope is the radically mashed-up product of Greenville, Mississippi; Memphis, Tennessee; Vernon, Texas; Austin, Texas; Washington, DC; and Brooklyn, New York. These locations are felt everywhere in his stories.  Folk tales-whether through William Faulkner or Big Bill Broonzy-shaped his sensitivity.  In ’80s Austin, he took sound classes and found himself fooling with a primitive four-track setup. Turntables intrigued him, and he heard hip hop as an inspired invention. For years, he got lost in his self-designed lab, cooking up beats and motifs that only later would be shaped into songs, some recorded by Carlos Santana, Dido and Richie Havens.

One Lovely Day will be released July 17 on Rainwater Recordings.
