audio ‘stache: Big B Strikes Gold With New Album

Big B’s latest album Fools Gold features collaborations with The Dirty Heads, Slightly Stoopid, P!NK, Butch Walker, and many more.

big b fools goldJuly 9th marks the release date for Fool’s Gold, the latest album by Las Vegas-based singer/rapper Big B. Released on Suburban Noize Records, the album features appearances from Dirty Heads, Slightly Stoopid, and many others. It is currently streaming on MSN.com and on last.fm.

For Fool’s Gold, Big B‘s sixth studio album, he is upping the ante by delivering his most heartfelt album yet.

“I put a lot of heart and soul into this record and the last few years have been pretty hard on me for various reasons,” he says. “This record was my way of getting it all out and turning it all into a positive thing. I just wanted to make good songs that people can have a good time listening to. “

Fool’s Gold features musical collaborations with members of legendary punk outfits NOFX and Pennywise, as well as a songwriting collaboration with Grammy winner Pink on the single “Here Comes the Lightning.” The end result is a collection of songs that are just as contagious as Big B‘s thuggish charm. With the entire music industry focused on finding the next huge star on reality television, Big B has taken a back-to-basics approach on “Fool’s Gold” and filled it with fun spirited songs that can fit into any music lover’s playlist. The album is rich is musical diversity and is cleverly inventive, as Big B seamlessly bridges the gap between rock, hip-hop, and alternative.

Soulful Brooklyn folk-rock outfit The Lone Bellow has released its first album track “You Never Need Nobody” to the public along with their first music video. “You Never Need Nobody” is taken from the band’s forthcoming self-titled album out on January 22nd via Descendant Records. Hailing from Brooklyn via south of the Mason-Dixon, The Lone Bellow (formerly known as Zach Williams & The Bellow) has established an exuberant following via live shows in New York and across the country during their stint opening for Grammy Winners The Civil Wars.

Williams and the band’s music evolved to reflect his Southern roots, incorporating elements of rock, gospel, country and blues that result in a unique and soul-searing blend of can’t-get-them-out-of-your-head lyrics that spring from a deep emotional reservoir. The upcoming record is a complete work, a “collection of stories embodying tragedy, hope, betrayal and redemption.”

Not long ago, the remarkable young singer Kate Earl was living in tiny Chugiak, Alaska, nursing musical ambitions between shifts at her parents’ gas station. After a move to Los Angeles, Kate released a couple major label albums that garnered acclaim and placements on network TV, yet the process left her lost in someone else’s vision. Kate re-emerges and flourishes on her Downtown Records debut Stronger. Written and recorded with a crew of well-respected Californians, including Brett Dennen and former Dawes member Blake Mills, Stronger shows off the development of a singular voice and finds this thoughtful songwriter coming into her own.
