Rap Duo STL GLD Previews New Album With The Video For “PNYBOY The Hustler”
Rapper Moe Pope has received the Boston Music Awards honor as Best Rap Artist for two years running, and he has collaborated with producer The Arcitype for a collaborative project they call STL GLD. Their album My Monday Morning Music (MMMM) comes out via AR Classic/Brick Records on August 12th, and they have just released the brand new video for the album track “PNYBOY The Hustler.”

About Moe Pope: Moe Pope is an indie hip-hop artist, songwriter and contemporary painter. As a lyricist, Pope chronicles the stories of his life and his community by touching upon subjects like fatherhood, relationships, and the human condition.
Pope released his first record One in 2001 as a member of San Francisco Bay-area group Mission (now Crown City Rockers), and has released several albums since. 2010’s critically acclaimed Life After God earned a spot on iTunes Rewind’s Top 10 Albums of 2010 and was voted Boston Herald’s Top Local Hip Hop Album of 2010. In addition to assorted local features, he landed a cover and feature story in Stuff Magazine.
About The Arcitype: The Arcitype first established himself in the hip-hop scene while studying at Boston’s Emerson College. In the last decade, he has worked with a variety of artists including Action Bronson, Chiddy Bang, Kool G. Rap, Planet Asia, Scarface, Vinny Paz and more.

Due out in North America on January 21st, material from MTV UNPLUGGED is taken from SCORPIONS’ first-ever “MTV Unplugged” show and features new acoustic versions of their best-loved classic hits, as well as five brand new songs. MTV UNPLUGGED will be available in North America as a deluxe CD + DVD package and as a Blu-Ray, and is being released in 50 countries, a testament to the German band’s iconic status worldwide.
Recorded and filmed on September 11th and September 12th of last year, SCORPIONS‘ MTV UNPLUGGED was culled from two dynamic acoustic sets at the Lycabettus Theatre in Athens, Greece. The spectacular open-air theatre, situated 300 meters above the city, was an impressive backdrop for the first-ever open-air show in the history of “MTV Unplugged” (the theatre also shares a birth year with SCORPIONS themselves, having been built in 1965.). In other news, SCORPIONS are still in the midst of their epic Farewell World Tour; the tour has been going on for more than three years now. To the delight of their fans there is no end in sight, as to date the band has only played 23 out of the 38 countries planned on the itinerary.

Los Lonely Boys Announce Release Of New Album, “Revelation”
“We decided to call this album Revelation because we want to make music that reveals something to people about their lives and their world,” says Jojo Garza. He’s talking about the upcoming release by Los Lonely Boys, the Grammy-winning trio that the bassist/vocalist shares with his brothers Henry (vocals, guitar) and Ringo (drums, vocals). “As musicians and artists, we’re here to connect with people, and to share our view of things.”
Revelation – to be released January 21st, 2014 on the band’s own LonelyTone imprint Jan. 21, 2014, in association with the respected Austin-based indie Playing in Traffic and MRI – is a landmark release for the siblings. While maintaining the infectiously melodic mix of bluesy rock ‘n’ roll and rootsy brown-eyed soul that’s long endeared Los Lonely Boys to its fiercely loyal fan base, Revelation adds an expansive range of new sonic elements, e.g. the conjunto touches of “Blame It On Love,” the reggae groove of “Give A Little More,” the rustic acoustic textures of “It’s Just My Heart Talkin’ and the baroque pop elements of “There’s Always Tomorrow.”
“We’re always trying to broaden our horizons and advance musically, and that’s something that we were very conscious of in making this record,” Jojo states. “We’re always looking for new ways to communicate and reach people, so we experimented with a lot of different sounds and production approaches.”
Toward that end, the brothers also collaborated with an eclectic cast of co-writers in assembling the dozen new original songs that comprise Revelation, including alt-country icon Radney Foster, in-demand pop tunesmiths Matthew Gerrard and David Quiñones, Black-Eyed Peas collaborators George Pajon Jr. and Keith Harris, and Raul Pacheco of Ozomatli.
If you’re a sports fan, you can hear songs from Revelation already. “Rule The World” has been licensed to ESPN’s Monday Night Football as well as the NFL on Fox, while “Can’t Slow Down” has been licensed to NASCAR for all race programming. You’ll also be able to hear an older LLB track in the upcoming film “American Hustle,” which co-stars Academy Award winners Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale.
Revelation also marks Los Lonely Boys’ first recording work since Henry Garza sustained serious injuries in a fall from the stage during a February 2013 performance in Los Angeles, necessitating a lengthy and ongoing recovery period.
“We nearly lost Henry, man, and that was a big change for us,” Jojo acknowledges. “The whole experience was a wake-up call for us. It made us rethink every aspect of our lives and our careers, and it reminded us of what’s really important to us.”

Hitting the road in advance of the release of their highly-anticipated sixth full-length album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, the 22-date tour begins on Tuesday, December 31 in Pittsburgh, PA at the Altar Bar and will visit markets such as Cleveland, OH on Saturday, January 4, Brooklyn, NY on Thursday, January 9, Birmingham, AL on Friday, January 17, Nashville, TN on Sunday, January 19, and will culminate in a performance at the Culture Room in Ft. Users of Apple mobile devices can now enjoy award-winning Onkyo headphone sound with the convenience of inline controls and mic to make on-the-fly playback adjustments and phone calls easy.
The ES-CTI300 on-ear and IE-CTI300 in-ear headphones retain the same brilliant design and specification as the existing four-model range but add a detachable oxygen-free 6N copper cable with iOS-Certified controls. Two versions of the on-ear type will be available. The ES-CTI300(SS) sports a striking silver finish with premium leatherette earpads while the ES-CTI300(BS) features a black finish with matching earpads. All CTI300 model headphones come with a silver (transparent) tangle-resistant cable.
The slim three-button cable control offers play/pause, track selection, call accept/reject, and volume functionality and includes a sensitive microphone for clean and clear communication. It’s compatible with almost all current and legacy iPod, iPhone, and iPad models.
When it came to designing its new headphone line, Onkyo invested almost 70 years’ engineering experience into translating its signature sound into a portable format, while attempting to replicate the look and feel of its reference hi-fi components. With liberal use of aluminum and clean, stylish lines, both the on-ear and in-ear models successfully introduce high-quality sound to products that are beautifully finished and comfortable to wear.
At the heart of the ES-CTI300 on-ear headphones are two 40 mm titanium drivers backed by high-capacity bass chambers encased in lightweight, non-resonant aluminum ear-cups. Combined with the super-conductive 6N cable, a full, pure, and highly detailed sound is produced. Bass response is satisfyingly punchy with the brilliantly clear mid-range sure to win the heart of discerning hi-fi enthusiasts.
The IE-CTI300 headphones, meanwhile, use a wide-range 14.3 mm dynamic driver and aluminum/ABS hybrid enclosures to create an engaging and musical performance. Vocals and other mid-range instruments are given plenty of space to breathe. Neutral, but not without personality, these headphones are very light and comfortable to wear and make an ideal partner for iPhone, iPod, and iPad.
Like all Onkyo headphone models, the ES-CTI300 and IE-CTI300 feature detachable cables with gold-plated MMCX connectors and reinforced, gold-plated stereo plugs, allowing users to easily replace a damaged cable rather than a complete set of headphones
With a total of three main cable options now available (including flat tangle-free elastomer, one-piece 6N copper, and 6N copper with inline control), Onkyo has a portable sound solution for anyone seeking an authentic hi-fi experience on the go.
The ES-CTI200 and IE-CTI300 will both be available in December and have suggested retail prices of $199 and $149 respectively.
Onkyo also recently announced an innovative, free HF Player app that enables playback of high-resolution audio files while granting users unprecedented control over how their music sounds. The free, full-featured audio player app features an intuitive interface that includes album artwork display, playback controls, and an organizational structure that will be familiar to any iOS user. Once the app has been pointed to the device’s music library via a synch with an iTunes®-equipped computer (an auto synch function is included), the user can start exploring the benefits of the phase-linear FIR equalizer, which offers 16,384 discrete bands of equalization with zero loss in audio quality. The user simply shapes their desired frequency curve with a finger on the touchscreen to manipulate bass, mid-bass, mid-range, and treble response. Presets may be created to suit a particular musical genre, artist, album, or pair of headphones and can be saved, swapped, and loaded in moments.

video ‘stache: Icon For Hire Reveals Lyric Video; Debuts High On Billboard Charts
The self-titled, sophomore album by charismatic rock trio Icon For Hire was released last week on 10/15, and makes a big impact on this week’s Billboard charts. Published today, the latest listings show Icon For Hire at #11 on the Top Independent Albums chart, #19 on Top Rock Albums, and at #65 on the overall Billboard 200. These are high-water marks for Icon For Hire on all three charts.
The band is ecstatic about this achievement, saying “Our new record was a risk…and our fans showed us that it was a risk worth taking. It was because of their amazing enthusiasm that our first week was a success.”
