video ‘stache: VEVO Puts SLIGHTLY STOOPID On “Top of the World” With Video Premiere

October 16, 2012 Leave a comment

Slightly Stoopid’s new video for “Top of the World”, which debuted Monday on VEVO, features the legendary Tommy Chong and Fishbone’s Norwood Fisher.

Slightly Stoopid has been riding high since their seventh studio recording, Top of the World, was released earlier this year. It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 13, Billboard‘s Independent Albums chart at No. 3, and the Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts at a peak position of No. 4. Now, the band is pleased to announce the video for the album’s title track, which had its online debut on VEVO.com yesterday!
The gritty, urban video stars comedian/actor/cult hero Tommy Chong, one half of the pot-loving pair Cheech & Chong. Shot on location in Los Angeles; Bethlehem, PA; Jones Beach, NY; and Pittsburgh, PA by director Andrew Anthony, the video is now one of the band’s favorites, despite some hectic filming conditions.  In fact, the shooting of the opening scene almost didn’t happen, after the classic car meant to be used broke down on the way to pick up Chong and guest star Norwood Fisher of Fishbone.  A true professional, Chong persevered and rolled with the program; but the only thing he was actually able to “roll” was a strawberry tobacco blunt – during the classic car breakdown, someone’s stash was lost in the shuffle! Slightly Stoopid previously worked with Chong last year when he hosted their web special, “Live At Roberto’s” TRI Studios, which featured collaborations with Bob Weir, Ivan and Ian Neville of Dumpstaphunk and Don Carlos of Black Uhuru.

Slightly Stoopid recently began a series of headlining dates. Full tour dates are below:

10/17              Burlington, VT             Higher Ground

10/18              Portland, ME               State Theatre

10/19              Providence, RI             Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel

10/20              Atlantic City, NJ           House of Blues

video ‘stache: THE FEATURES Have Another One and Hit The Road

September 5, 2012 Leave a comment

The Features premiere the video for their new single, “Another One” on MTV Buzzworthy and announce new tour dates.

The Features recently premiered a creative new video for the Wilderness track “Another One” on MTV Buzzworthy. The video was directed by Ryan Newman, and MTV notes: In a possible outtake from “Honey, We Shrunk The Rock Band,” the Nashville quartet delivers the hooky track (which feels like the Talking Heads synced up with The Cars) from the safety of a mouse-sized hole in the wall until our lovelorn protagonists outsmart them and put this whole of-mice-and-men thing to bed.

Watch the official video for “Another One” on VEVO

The Features recently released the new single “Another One” from their album Wilderness, on Kings of Leon’s Serpents and Snakes label. The band is hitting the road in mid-September with dates crossing UK/Europe, then returning to the States for a Fall tour scheduled through November 1st including stops at L.A.’s fabled Troubadour, Austin City Limits Festival and Voodoo Music Experience in late October.

Wilderness has established the Nashville-based combo as one of the most exciting and imaginative bands working today.  Songs like “How It Starts,” which was featured in a national Ford Mustang Spot, “Another One” and “Fats Domino” are marvels of pop ingenuity, animated by vivid lyrics, unshakable hooks, and experimental soul. Wilderness is an amalgamation of influences and inspirations – spanning elements of Krautrock, indie, psychedelia, and classic AOR – to conjure up The Features‘ own inimitable, indescribable sound.

“I feel like we walk this fine line,” says singer/guitarist Matt Pelham. “We’re not weird enough for a certain crowd and we’re a little bit too out there for the other crowd.  We fall in the middle somewhere between mainstream and hipster, which puts us in this weird place, but we’re all pretty happy to be here.”
